Durga puja in Phulbari

Durga puja is a grand festival which was celebrated in Phulbari from 21^st October 2023 to 24^th October. Phulbari is fast growing village in West Garo Hills of Meghalaya which is bordering Assam through the mighty Brahamaputra in the north. It is a place inhabited by a mix of communities belonging to different ethnicities including Muslims, Garos, Hindus, and Rabhas. Despite having a mix of communities, Phulbari is a good example of communal harmony. An example of this is that the President of the Peace Committee for Durga puja was a Muslim.

It was a very immersive experience, not just because of the celebrative mood, also because of the beautiful sunset into the Brahmaputra.
